Introducing The Essex: the elegant shape whose clean lines and modern styling belie its thoughtful design. From sharply tailored mitered corners to the subtle taper of its headboard, get ready to fall for this timeless style.
When we began designing this timeless shape, we sought to reimagine the details of a classic style - focusing our attention on the subtle details that elevate a design from the everyday to the extraordinary. We started from the ground up, carefully carving the Essex’s legs for the perfect, modern taper inspired by the graphic motif of mid-century styling. Available in our four classic wood finishes, the legs provide the finishing touch for each customized piece.
Each Essex bed is handmade to order in one of our North Carolina workrooms, where artisans meticulously craft your bed using the time-honored techniques that allow our furniture to stand the test of time. From the kiln-dried hardwood frames that are guaranteed for life under our industry-leading warranty, to the techniques like mortise and tenon joinery and corner blocking - each piece has been designed with artisanry at the heart of its construction.
All Maiden Home Beds are made with a system of hardwood slats milled from solid poplar wood. Each slat is 2.25” wide and spaced 3” apart along the foundation of the bed, and additionally secured with center support legs. This forms the ideal foundation for ultra-comfortable sleep, supporting not only your rest, but also the longevity of your mattress. Because the weight is distributed evenly over the years, you’ll see higher performance from your mattress over time—meaning less time and money spent searching for remediations like foam or feather toppers three years down the line.
We’re thrilled to introduce you to this elegant staple, and hope to build you a bed you’ll love for years to come. Need a place to start?
