Our Favorite Looks
Sleek, modern legs create a weightless aesthetic on this sophisticated style.
Lean back against this subtly tapered headboard, perfect for reading late at night.
Elegantly mitered corners join at a 45-degree angle, lending a tailored, custom look.
Inside each Maiden Home piece, you'll find premium materials and cut-no-corners construction. We are proud to back up our quality with an industry-leading warranty.
Kiln-dried hardwood is precision-cut for a frame that'll never twist, warp or crack. Joints are glued, double-doweled and corner-blocked for extra stability.
Each bed is made with a foundation of solid hardwood slats to ensure even distribution of weight and longevity of your mattress over time.
The Essex bed is compatible with mattresses of all types and does not require a box spring - allowing you to achieve a more restful night's sleep with fewer extras and add-ons.
The frame is fully upholstered in your choice of material, with full-back upholstery optional if the back of your bed will be visible.

What is the difference between having a fully upholstered headboard on The Essex and a headboard with muslin on the reverse side?
We offer two options for headboard upholstery–one in which the back is fully upholstered in your choice of fabric or leather, and one with a black muslin upholstered onto the back. If you plan to place your bed against a wall, you may opt for muslin upholstery on reverse; however, if you are floating your bed in a space, full upholstery is the right choice.
What kind of support is included for my mattress? Are any other components necessary?
The Essex is made with a system of hardwood slats milled from solid poplar wood. Each slat is 2.25” wide and spaced 3” apart along the foundation of the bed, and additionally secured with center support legs (1 for Queen sizes, 2 for King and Cal King).
With this highly durable foundation, The Essex does not require a box spring; however, a box spring can be accommodated if preferred.
Our beds are not designed to accommodate any other support system other than the one we provide, such as adjustable frames and bases.
What is the recommended mattress height?
The Essex Bed has a two inch inset into the frame for a mattress. Our styling recommendation for The Essex Bed is a mattress between ten and twelve inches high. With a mattress at this height, there will be approximately eight to ten inches of the mattress exposed.
Can I order just the headboard for The Essex?
Our beds are only available to order as a complete set with the side rails and footboard.
What are the legs made out of and what finish options are available?
Our artisan partners hand select each material for its beauty and unique character. The Essex’s legs are expertly handcrafted using solid maple, a robust Appalachian hardwood. Our maple wood is domestically sourced from forests in the eastern United States and has been certified and verified sustainable by the US forest Association.
The Essex’s legs are completed with your choice of four lacquered hues specially finished to highlight the natural grain and character of the wood. Due to the natural materials used, each piece will possess a unique, one-of-a-kind character and may slightly vary.
Can I order wood finish samples?
Wood finish samples for The Essex are available for order here. Please note, variation in grain and texture is to be expected between your wood sample and final piece, given the natural materials used.
I am very happy with my Essex bed in Oyster performance linen. The bed is beautiful and the delivery process was simple.
I loved my first Essex and bought a second one in Seaform Velvet. Seafoam was an odd choice for me but decided to try a fabric and color that would be out of the nrom for me. I blended it with a great rug and art work and created a beautiful room with this bed! Love the platform (no more box springs!)
We have the Essex bed frame and it was worth every penny. This will be a bed that we will have forever. It’s well made - and we loved that Maiden home kept us in the loop of each stage our bed went through including when material was being sourced, who was making the frame and sewing the headboard. We loved that! Thank you maiden form for the bed of our dreams!
I had my Essex bed delivered a few weeks ago and am absolutely loving it. The quality is top notch, and it looks fantastic in my bedroom. I'll certainly be back for more!
I am in love with my Essex King Bed. It is beautiful (I got it in Ash Leather)! It is really sturdy and well crafted. I like the bed so much I ordered a second one for a guest room (in Seafoam).
