The Art of the Home

In approaching the design of our newest collection, I felt how much this past year has brought into focus what truly matters in the home. We are preparing to open our homes again, craving the connection and humanity that brings us joy and feeds our souls. For this moment, I envisioned a product collection that was a true celebration of the handmade – an opportunity to reconnect to the talents of our North Carolina artisans, and rediscover handcrafted techniques that transform a piece into a work of art.

The concept began in our New York studio, where we envisioned simple, thoughtfully designed forms that would put natural materials on full display. The result is our most minimal collection yet, defined by perfect proportions and subtle details. We then turned to materials and finishes, guided by the expertise of our North Carolina partners. We discovered the beauty of domestically sourced, solid ash – the hero of our Spring Collection, this hardwood offers unmatched depth and character in grain, showcased in its most natural form here on our new Muir sofa. We sourced the perfect Nubuck leather, a true Italian luxury with soft, suede-like texture and velvety hand that is achieved by buffing each hide by hand. Our journey then brought us to finishes, where we discovered heritage techniques that chemical processes cannot recreate. Throughout the process, we found ourselves drawn to techniques that are intentionally slower, rooted in the crafting of natural materials to a level of refinement only possible with a human touch. And, best of all, we found an opportunity to deeply reconnect – albeit virtually – with our North Carolina partners whose heritage has always been at the heart of our mission.

We photographed our Spring collection in Northern California – my original home, where memories of growing up surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty felt so right for the season. With Mount Tamalpais as our backdrop, every piece felt right at home in the serene setting. And lastly, I named each piece after a gorgeous natural destination in California – places that have dazzled me, humbled me, and forever left their mark on my imagination.

I’m proud to present our newest collection: The Muir Sofa, The Morro Tables, The Reyes Bench, and The Reyes Stool—a celebration of the handmade, the natural form, and the artisan’s touch. Each piece is rich in heritage, wrapped in story, and handcrafted just for you. Introducing Maiden Home Spring 2021 – The Art of the Home.
