Whether you choose one of our preset configurations or custom build your own, there are a few basic rules of thumb to help lay out your room.

• DEFINE YOUR SPACE: Start by measuring your living area, including your rug. Each Jones piece is between 33” and 42” in width, allowing you to create a custom arrangement that maximizes your space according to your needs. Design Tip: When pairing your piece with an area rug, aim for at least two legs of all main furniture pieces to rest on the rug, and look for a sofa size that will leave 12-18” of space of rug extending out from underneath.
• KEEP AN OPEN END: The modular nature of The Jones allows you to get creative with how you can use each piece. Ending either side of your configuration with a Left or Right-Facing One-Arm Chair lends a traditional feel, or, opt instead to end with a Luxury Ottoman with Clips. This creates an airy alternative that feels modern yet relaxed, with added flexibility.

• FLEXIBILITY WITH OTTOMANS: Ottomans can offer endless design versatility when added to any room. Place a Luxury Ottoman with Clips within your Jones configuration for added visual interest, giving a casual, laid-back feel. Or, add a Luxury Ottoman in front of any piece for a chaise-style extension, giving more flexibility than a One-Arm Chaise component. Square Ottomans are perfect accents to float within your space, able to be used as footrests, an additional perch, or alternatives to a traditional coffee table.

With its crisp, comfort driven details and limitless configurations, The Jones Modular fits beautifully in a variety of settings. Below, our designers share a few of their favorite layouts featuring this workhorse piece.

For homes with an open concept design, our designers recommend taking cues from architectural details to dictate the space. In this layout, a two-sided fireplace acts as a central divider between the living and dining areas.

Here, we used a Left-Facing One-Arm Chair and two Armless Chairs, ending with a Luxury Ottoman with Clips to create a modern twist on a generously-sized sofa. Two Square Ottomans float in the middle of the lounge space, functioning as contemporary alternatives to coffee tables and creating unlimited design potential to be moved around the space as needed.

To maximize conversational seating, a pair of Perry Chairs add a complementary silhouette with their distinctly tailored curvature. In the dining area, The Carlisle Dining Table paired with The Allen Dining Chairs display natural materiality with strikingly graphic shapes. The Delancey Counter Stools tie in the kitchen space, creating a refined, cohesive atmosphere.

Our designers love using modular Jones pieces to bring cozier spaces to an elevated level, maximizing their potential. In this room, a Corner Chair and Luxury Ottoman with Clips create a chaise lounge on one side, while the other side creates a stylish, open-ended sofa with a Left-Facing One-Arm Chair, Armless Chair, and Luxury Ottoman with Clips. The addition of design-forward accent pieces like our Bowery Coffee Table Ottoman, Hayes Chair, and Morro Tables infuse the space with an adaptable attitude and the textural interest of natural materials.

For ample flexibility, our designers demonstrate how the same eight modular pieces can be creatively rearranged to achieve two different yet equally design-forward atmospheres. In the first arrangement, seven of the Jones pieces are arranged into a traditional U Sofa Chaise Sectional, with an ottoman used as a movable footstool or chaise-style extension. In the alternate layout, Right- and Left-Facing One-Arm Chairs surround an Armless Chair to create a chic modular sofa, while a Corner Chair, Armless Chair, and Luxury Ottoman come together as an extended Chaise Lounge set. With two Square Ottomans floating in the space, this contemporary living space does it all and can be easily rearranged to suit your needs over time.
