Jacqueline Clair York Avenue Maiden Home Carmine

Jacqueline Clair, of the beautiful blog York Avenue, recently revealed her new apartment design that features artful layering and textural contrast. The Carmine sofa in elegant Dove Velvet anchors the space and offers a super comfortable, ultra-stylish spot for Jacqueline to host friends, blog from home, or just kick back with a good book.

When Jacqueline first contemplated decorating her new place, she went on an exhaustive search for the perfect sofa, one that would balance her desire for comfort, style, performance and budget. After scouring the market, she reached out to us to build her the perfect piece for her new home. She quickly settled on The Carmine given her appreciation for traditional shapes rendered in contemporary ways.

In terms of style, the Carmine is like an updated version of an English roll-arm. The lines are sleeker and the silhouette a bit more modern, but it retains the signature details of that classic sofa style.

The Carmine's unique fan-pleated arms highlight the carefully considered design of the piece and bring subtle distinction to the shape.

They’re a great design detail that gives the arms a little something special, while maintaining a clean and tailored look.

When it came to styling, Jacqueline succeeded in building a clean, feminine vibe without sacrificing an inviting appeal. To achieve this, she married rich textures like brushed brass, natural jute, linen pillowcases, and of course - the sumptuous dove grey velvet she selected for her Carmine

Maiden Home’s velvet is to die for. It is gorgeous, both texture-wise and color-wise, in the Dove Gray that I chose. I really wanted that casual, laidback vibe that linen gives and was a bit afraid that velvet would feel too formal, but it doesn’t. It just feels clean, classic, and upscale.

For Jacqueline, versatility was a key element of her design since space is limited in her Manhattan studio. Her sofa will be her primary seating for movie nights, entertaining, working, and relaxing. Not only would she want it to always look polished, but it definitely had to be sink-in comfortable.

The seat cushions are very comfortable and soft – you kind of sink into them, but then they bounce right back which is great for maintaining a clean look.

When all is said and done, we think Jacqueline did a beautiful job bringing The Carmine to life and are so happy to have been a part of designing a space she'll live in and love for years to come.
